Davis Continues to Prepare for NWSMT Race at ‘The Madhouse’
Georgia Driver Drives to Top-10 Finish at Bowman Gray
Spencer Davis and the No. 79 Hillbilly Racing Team headed back to their “home away from home”, Bowman Gray Stadium, this past weekend in an attempt to continue to gain experience at the quarter-mile oval coined ‘The Madhouse’.
Davis would start the 50-lap Modified event from the
14th spot after both practice and qualifying were
cancelled due to rain. The 15-year-old driver from
Dawsonville, Georgia made steady progress driving
towards the front throughout the 50-lap feature and
made it up to the eighth spot as he crossed under the
checkered flag.
“We started 14th out of 18 or 20 cars and quickly
worked our way into the top-10,” said Davis. “We got
all the way up to eighth with four laps to go it started raining real hard. When it became a downpour, they called the race. We started 14th and finished eighth, I’m really happy with that.”
Davis will return to Bowman Gray Stadium once again next weekend, July 26 for twin 50-lap Modified features. He and the No. 79 Coors Light 21 Means 21 team will look to continue to make improvements on the car for the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour event at Bowman Gray on August 2.
“We’re going to be there all the way up to the tour race,” said Davis. “We’re just focusing on Bowman Gray and getting ready for the tour race.
