Spencer Davis Gains Valuable Experience at Gresham
Davis Battles Southeast’s Best in Southern Super Series Tilt
After a thrilling victory in his Pro Late Model at San Antonio Speedway in San Antonio, Texas back on April 20, 14-year-old Spencer Davis and his Spencer Davis Racing Team made the much shorter trip to Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, Georgia on Saturday, April 27th for the second race of the Inaugural season for the Southern Super Series.

The Racing Radios 125 Presented by Schoenfeld Headers
saw a 33-car field vie for the top prize of $5,000 and after
qualifying 12th, Davis would start the race from the outside
of the sixth row.  After all was said and done, the Peach
State teenager would leave with a 16th place finish.

“We’ve just been fighting this Super Late Model since the
day we got it,” said Davis.  “We thought we had the car
figured out during the race, but we got held up by a few
cars early on.  Once we got away from those slower cars, we got to race a little bit and it was to race with Ross Kenseth and I could see Augie Grill in front of us too.”

Davis went into the lap-75 break sitting in the same position he started in, 12th, but had high hopes for a turnaround in handling with adjustments.

“We got to the break and tightened the car up a little bit and it started off pretty decent, but the car went south on us again.  We ended up losing a couple of spots, so I just tried to hang on to it.  I love this place, it’s my favorite track by far, just wished we could’ve done better.”

Davis will continue to follow the Southern Super Series schedule as the next event is set for Saturday, May 4th at Montgomery Motor Speedway in Montgomery, Alabama for the Southern Super Series 125 Presented by Sunoco.
