Gulf Coast Double Leaves Davis Wanting More
Georgia Teen Looking For Win No. 2
A Pro Late Model weekend double-header on the Gulf Coast left somewhat of a bad taste in Spencer Davis’ mouth. Davis battled an ill handling car on Friday night at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida to a 12th place finish. On Saturday at Mobile, Davis brought home a pair of top 10’s, but was unable to pick up his second career Pro Late Model Win.
“We had a really loose race car tonight,” Davis said of Pensacola. “On a scale of one to 10, I’d say we were about an eight. It’s hard to pass folks while fighting the car at the same time. We will get better here, and be good in December, time for the ‘Flake’ (Allen Turner Snowflake 100).”
Davis got out front and led laps in the first of Mobile’s Twin 55 lappers on Saturday. Davis got the jump on Bryce Duhlaban at the start, and was checking out on the field, when a late-race restart doomed the night. The No. 29 Core Race Products machine came home fourth in the first segment, and seventh in the second.
“It’s a big, fast race track,” Davis said. “We have had some success here in the Truck and good runs here before. We led some laps, and had a decent night. Not great, not bad.”
Spencer Davis and the Core Race Products team will be back in action August 4th at South Alabama Speedway in the Viper Series.
