Davis Scores First Career Top-Five K&N East Finish at Iowa
Georgia Driver Proving He's a Force to Be Reckoned With
NEWTON, Iowa (August 1, 2015) – Spencer Davis has quickly proven that he is a force to be reckoned with in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series, bringing home a top-five finish at Iowa Speedway. In his first NASCAR K&N Pro Series combination race, which combines drivers from both the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKNPSE) and the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, Davis took on all the best drivers each series has to offer and came home with a third-place finish in the No. 20 Ruud Chevrolet.

Seeing Iowa Speedway for the first time, Davis quickly learned the track, posting the fourth-quickest lap in the opening practice session and the sixth-quickest lap in the final practice session. Despite an early qualifying draw, the Ruud team was able to back up their practice speeds as Davis secured the fourth starting position for the #ThanksKenny150. When the green flag waved, Davis immediately took off, holding his own against the leaders. As the race progressed and the track tightened up, the young driver slowly adjusted his line, moving higher and higher on the track to help the Ruud Chevrolet adapt to the changing track conditions.

By the halfway break, with their Chevrolet tight in the center of the turns, the NTS Motorsports team made slight chassis and air-pressure adjustments, in addition to servicing the car with four tires and fuel. When the field returned to green-flag racing, Davis worked hard to save his equipment for the end of the race. Finding himself in the fourth position after a restart with less than 20 to go, Davis knew it was go time, and began navigating traffic to find his way through the field. After spending the entire 150-lap race inside the top four, Davis ultimately drove his Ruud Chevrolet across the finish line in the third position.

Spencer Davis on Iowa Speedway:

“I’m super proud of our effort at Iowa Speedway today. Doug Howe and our Ruud team gave me an awesome car. Everyone at NTS Motorsports—Bob Newberry, Brennan Newberry, Chris Rice, Rick Carelli, and Doug—they’re all awesome people, and it’s so much fun to work with them. I’m so thankful for this opportunity. It’s nice when you go to the track and it doesn’t feel like you’re just working with people, it feels like you’re working with friends. Everyone on the crew is really nice and we’ve bonded really well. I’ve got to say this is the most fun I’ve had in a race car in a while. I can’t thank Ruud and NTS Motorsports enough for this opportunity.”

Davis will return to the NKNPSE with NTS Motorsports on Thursday, September 10 at Richmond International Raceway.
