Davis Fights for 13th at SoBo, but Finish Does Not Reflect Driver's Run
Georgia Driver Rides as Top Rookie for Over Half the Race
The dust settled at South Boston Speedway (VA) and Spencer Davis was left with a 13th-place finish after what was the strongest run yet for the Georgia Modified youngster. The Hillbilly Racing No. 79 ride was battling in the top-10 throughout the race before getting tangled up with another competitor, setting Davis back in the final running order.

"We were riding in the top-six the first half of race just doing what we need to do," said Davis.  “When cars run that close to each other you want to make sure you keep the engine cool and the tires fresh. We were very strong in the first half and we didn't need the break at all.  That’s what changed the momentum."

Davis admitted that he had a bad restart just after the halfway point that may have set him back, but the Dawsonville, Georgia responded and was able to work his way back up to sixth before an altercation with another driver left both cars in the wall.  Davis would rebound to finish the race in the 13th position.

"It's an unsatisfying finish for how we ran today," added Davis.  "We'll get the white car ready for Langley and that car is my favorite as I have always finished well in it.  I hope we can keep that going.  I have never been to Langley, but we went to Texas last year and won in a Late Model for the first time at a track I had never seen."

Hampton, Virginia’s Langley Speedway will be the next stop for Davis and the Hillbilly Racing Team when the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour visits the track on April 12th.  Green flag for the race is scheduled for 8pm ET.
