Davis 11th After Broken Rear End at Caraway
Georgia Driver Finishes With His Hands Full
Spencer Davis had never been to Caraway Speedway
(NC) in a NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified before
the season opener this past Sunday.  The 15-year-old
from Dawsonville, Georgia made the most of limited
practice time and the longest race he's ever run in the
open-wheel cars.  At the end of the day Davis found
himself 11th in his first official NASCAR touring series
start.

"We made adjustments on the car during the break
at halfway and things started off ok in the second
segment," said Davis.  "After about two laps the car's
forward drive just went away and we could figure it out.
After the race we discovered that I drove the whole second half of the race with a broken rear end.  It was amazing it able to finish and that I could drive well enough to post a decent finish."

Prior to pit stops at the break, Davis had worked his way into the back half of the top 10.  He never found the ability to get much higher than that.  Considering all but one of the drivers in the front of Davis in the final rundown have run over 1000 race laps at Caraway shows his ability to be consistent against the veterans.

"We want to try and make all the shows that we can," said Davis.  "The Hill family and the Hillbilly Race Team have been great to work with and we want to chase the Rookie of the Year honors."

Davis will be back in action on March 15th at Southern National Motorsport Park (NC) for the second race of the 2014 season.   Davis also plans to run the Rattler 250 the next day at South Alabama Speedway.
