Spencer Davis Ready for Hefty Super Late Model Excursion in 2013
14-Year-Old Begins Will Race for SSS Championship and Big SLM Shows
Each year when Super Late Model teams are prepping for the upcoming season, the debate begins as to which driver will have a breakout year begins.  For 2013, many eyes are turning towards 14-year-old Spencer Davis as a threat for a breakout season.
Spencer Davis picked up his first career Pro Late Model win at Gresham last year, and believes he can get his first Super Late Model win this season. Davis will compete full time on the Southern Super Series.
Davis won the 2012 Gresham Pro Late Model track championship.  Davis also made rookie runs in the All American 400, the World Crown 300 and attempted to qualify for the prestigious Snowball Derby.

Now, with a bulk of solid laps behind him in 2012, Davis is ready for an every-week battle to chase his first Super Late Model win in 2013.

"I’m ready to go all out and race all we can," said Davis.  "The more you race, the more experience you gain. The more experience you gain, the better you will be.  We want to win more races than we did in 2012 and get another championship.  I think that we can run up front and contend."
Davis will contend for the Blizzard Super Late Model Series title, the Miller Lite Series title, the Gulf Coast Championship and the Southern Super Late Model title.  With a chance to win four championship, Davis is eager to keep improving.

"For 16 races, we get to run every week against Bubba Pollard, Mike Garvey, Augie Grill and all the big names in the South in the new Southern Super Series,” explained Davis.  "We have gotten so much better through the years at those tracks.  I think we stand a good shot at getting a top-five finish in the standings and maybe even a championship."

Davis will having backing from Parts City Auto Parts, Rheem, Ruud, Core Race Products, Overnight Wraps, Georgia Racing Hall of Fame, Grand American Race Cars and the Dawsonville Pool Room.  Those  partners will alternate space and placement on the 40-plus race schedule for Davis that includes the Super Late Model majors like the Winchester 400, All American 400, Rattler 250, Oxford 250, World Crown 300 and the prestigious Snowball Derby.

"When you first start out, you are trying to get top 10's or top fives and just finish," said Davis. "But at a certain point, as your driving improves and you begin to run up front and lead some laps, all you get focused on is winning."

Perhaps Davis' first Super Late Model win will come at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, Georgia..  He won his first Pro Late Model race there last year and later took the division’s championship.

"We like Gresham and have always been fast there. We had some bad luck there in the World Crown last year, but have been faster that a lot of guys in practice. I think that track is a good possibility to get my first win."

Davis’ season will get kick-started with the eight-night World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at Florida’s New Smyrna Speedway, February 15 through 23.
