Solid Run in World Crown 300 for 14-Year-Old Spencer Davis
12th place finish has Georgia Teen optimistic for the rest of the season
The World Crown 300, the signature event of the 2013 racing season for the Southern Super Series was next on the 2013 racing schedule for 14-year-old Spencer Davis as he got the rare opportunity to race a little closer to home at Gresham Motorsports Park, located northeast of Atlanta in Jefferson, Georgia on August 10th.

Davis was fast in his Dodge Charger in practice as he
was fifth quick overall on Practice Day and then 10th
fastest on race day. After qualifying 12th quick, the
Dawsonville, Georgia teenager would start one of the
longest races of his career from the outside of the
sixth row.

Davis was able to survive all 300 laps, an impressive
feat in a race that was hard on man and machine, to
finish 12th.

"We struggled all day Saturday to find speed in the car, so we went back to what we were doing on Friday under different track conditions and qualified blind not knowing what to expect of the car," said Davis.  "We went out and got 12th, which was good for what we had."

In the race, Davis fought a lack of grip with his Georgia Racing Hall of Fame-backed No. 129.

"There weren't many cautions, so we couldn't adjust on the car but twice and only got to take one set of tires and just limped to the end." Davis continued. "Now we'll get ready to go to South Boston for the PASS 150."

Davis will return to PASS South Series competition on Saturday, August 17th as he'll participate in a 150-lap main at South Boston Speedway in South Boston, Virginia.
