Spencer Davis Switches Gears to Late Model Stocks at Anderson
Davis to Make UARA-STARS Debut With Hawk-McCall Motorsports
After getting a solid foundation of Pro and Super Late Model competition under his belt in recent seasons, Spencer Davis is ready to make another step in his racing career this weekend.

Davis will climb behind the wheel of a Late Model Stock Car prepared by legendary LMSC driver and crew chief, Lee McCall.  The Hawk-McCall Motorsports team will take on the UARA-STARS 150-lap main event and Anderson Motor Speedway (SC), just a short drive from Davis’ hometown of Dawsonville, Georgia.

“It’s going to be really cool running with Lee because
of the success he’s had with the UARA cars,” said
Davis.  “He went to victory lane with Kyle Larson down
in Daytona earlier this year and he’s done a lot this
season with Ben Rhodes racing his cars.  He’s also
had a lot of past success with people like Brandon
Jones and others.

“I just think it’s going to be really cool to race with
Lee and since we’re getting to race at Anderson, it’s
close to home near Dawsonville and that makes it
even better.  I really like the track there; it’s a really
nice place and it’s a driver’s track.  You’ve got to be
up on the wheel and driving hard every lap and I
can’t wait to get there back behind the wheel for a
guy like Lee.”

After such an extensive schedule of Pro and Super Late Model racing over the past few seasons, the move to Late Model Stock Cars is an interesting one for Davis, but it’s all in strategy for moving forward.

“It's just something different to get more experience in a heavier car like these Late Model Stock Cars,” said Davis.  “We are just trying to get the seat time we need to get ready for possibly the NASCAR K&N Pro Series or other things in the future.”

Not only does Davis have a proven team behind him for his LMSC debut, but he’s also got a proven car that has gotten some attention already this season.

“I’ll be driving the same car that Kyle Larson drove in the Battle at the Beach down in Daytona in February," added Davis.  "It’s also the same car that Tony Stewart drove this year in the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown at Richmond International Raceway."

The UARA-STARS 150 at Anderson Motor Speedway on Friday, June 14, will mark the sixth event on the series 15-race schedule.  Local classes will run in addition to the150-lap main event and racing will begin at 8:00 pm.
