Fourth Place Finish For Davis At SNMP
14-year-old gaining ground in PASS South title chase / Leads rookie points
Fourteen-year-old Spencer Davis continues to make
strides in the Pro All-Stars Series (PASS) South as
the Dawsonville, Georgia teenager has emerged as
a top contender not only for the series' freshman
title, but for the overall championship. That was
proven in the PASS South tour's last event, the
Scorcher 150 at Southern National Motorsports
Park in Kenly, North Carolina with an impressive
fourth place finish.

After practice runs of second and third over the 24-
car field, Davis qualified fifth fastest and after the
redraw, he would start the 150-lap main from the outside of the third row. He got up to as high as second and was battling for the lead before brake problems relegated him to a fourth place showing.  In an event dominated by drivers who don't run the series regularly, Davis was the highest-finishing PASS South regular.

"The brake problems that started around lap 30, and then after the rain delay, we raced (Eventual Winner, Daniel) Hemric for the lead for about 10 laps even though the car really wasn't that good," the Peach State teenager explained. "So I got in line behind Ross (Kenseth) and then got passed right there at the end. It was a good weekend though with brake problems and we'll take it."

Looking at the bigger  picture, Davis is the rookie points leader in the regional series and he's also in contention for the overall championship as the series hits its stretch run to the finish.

"It was a real good points day with points leader Kyle Grissom falling out and finishing next to last, Jay Fogelman wrecking and the two drivers I'm racing for the rookie title (Brandon Lynn & Cole Timm) were also involved in the Fogelman accident."

The World Crown 300, the signature event of the 2013 racing season for the Southern Super Series is next for Davis as he'll race closer to home at Gresham Motorsports Park, located northeast of Atlanta in Jefferson, Georgia on Saturday, August 10th.
