Davis Flights for 11th North of the Border
Georgia Driver Runs 20th Different Track in a Late Model This Season
When Spencer Davis wakes up on the road he has to often times check the phone book at the local hotel or check the name of the race track on the wall to make sure he knows where he is.  That has never rang more true than this past weekend when he went some 1000 miles north and crossed the border into Quebec, Canada.  The PASS Triple Crown stop at Autodrome Chaudiere's Thunder Valley 200 marked Davis' 20th different venue that he has run a Late Model at this season.

A long weekend became even longer when weather pushed the race from Saturday night to Sunday afternoon where Davis managed to battle back from a poor draw in his heat race to finish 11th on the lead lap.

"It was a different experience up there," said Davis.  "We got the car to turn real well in practice, but the heat draw set us back a bit. The car got real tight after we had a quick shower around the 40th lap.  We went all the way back to 18th and rebounded to get 11th."

When a driver like Spencer Davis goes to a 20th different track in a season, the tracks tend to start to feel the same.  Davis has learned to adapt to tracks quickly this season.  A good example was his trip to Texas where he won at San Antonio Speedway in his first trip there.

"I'd say that the track made me think of Auburndale Speedway (FL)," explained Davis.  "We don't run a lot on the quarter miles in the south, but when we do they are fun.  I can't believe that we have been to 20 tracks this year.  That's pretty neat."

Davis will stick close to home this weekend as he will run the Viper Series finale for Pro Late Models in Opp, AL on Saturday, September 14th at South Alabama Speedway.
