Top-Five Finish Highlights Spencer Davis' Indianapolis Double
14-Year-Old Georgia Racer Runs Well in Two Races at Lucas Oil Raceway
Spencer Davis has been traveling all over the country from
his home base of Dawsonville, Georgia gaining experience
at a wide variety of tracks throughout the United States.
Whether it's in his Super Late Model or his Pro Late Model,
the 14-year-old has turned plenty of laps since January of
this year. In his last weekend of action, he brought both
cars and was able to run plenty of laps at one of the most
immaculate short tracks in the country.

Davis and crew made the long trip north to Lucas Oil
Raceway in Clermont, Indiana July 26th for the Night of the
Stars Twin 100s. Davis raced in both the ARCA/CRA Super Series and JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour portions of the day and a top-five finish in the JEGS Tour 100-lapper highlighted a solid weekend in the Circle City for Davis.

"We had a good day in the JEGS/CRA car," said Davis, who qualified seventh of the 29 cars on hand for the JEGS Tour event.  "We were top 10 in the final practice without a mock qualifying run.  We were good in the race too.

"On the last restart, we tried passing for second and the car just got too tight and couldn't make the pass.  Dakota (Stroup) got by me for third on the last lap. I just couldn't keep the car held down off the corners, but we were real happy with a top five for my first time there."

In the ARCA/CRA Super Series portion of the day, he qualified right in the middle of the 33-car field in 17th and after climbing from his JEGS/CRA Pro Late Model and into his ARCA/CRA Super Late Model, he would start on the inside of the ninth row.

Davis had another solid run going before bad luck set in late in the race.

"I had a decent idea of what the car was going to do and it went the opposite way," said Davis of his CRA effort.  It was just way too tight and we lost a lot of spots.  Then we had a rear tire that went down, which made the car go into the wall and mess up the car.  But it was definitely a good run overall for the Pro Late and an ok day for the Super Late until the tire incident."

Up next for Davis is the Viper Series for Pro Late Models at South  Alabama Speedway in Opp, Alabama on Saturday, August 3rd for the Pro Late Model 100.
