Rear End Problems Sideline Davis in All American 400 at Nashville
Davis Now Ready to Round Out the PASS Season & Head to Snowball
Spencer Davis has run one of the busiest
schedules in Pro and Super Late Model
racing in 2013.  Going into the final events
of the year after a full season of quality
seat time, Davis was poised for a strong
finish in the All American 400 at
Fairgrounds Speedway (TN).

Following a strong run in Friday’s practice
session and a ninth-place qualifying spot,
Davis knew he had the car he needed to bring home the finish he wanted after 300 laps in Music City.

“We had a good car Friday and ended up 10th overall (in practice),” said Davis.  “So we came into Saturday looking forward to it.  I don’t know where we were at the first part of practice but at the end we bolted on a set of stickers when we finally went out, we jumped up to the top of the board and ended up third overall on Saturday.  I had a really good qualifying run, wound up ninth, and  at the start of the race Chase (Elliott) had to drop back so that put me up to seventh on the inside row.”

Once the green flag dropped Davis was on the move toward the front of the field and made his way into the top-three before an unforeseen mechanical issue ended his night early and relegated the Georgia driver to a 30th-place finish.

“I just had a really good car at the start of the race,” explained Davis.  “We were just riding.  I got up to fifth and we were up to third after everybody pitted, and then the bolts in the rear end backed loose and we blew up the rear end.  It stinks that our night ended the way it did but we had a really good car for the beginning of the race.  I think I was more than capable of winning it with the stuff I had and the people in the pits but it just stinks it ended that way.”

Davis’ chances to snag a big win at the end of the season aren’t quite over yet though.  Up next for Davis will be this weekend’s North South Shootout at Caraway Speedway (NC).

“The North South Shootout is at Caraway and I haven’t run well there in the past,” admitted Davis.  “But that’s because I’ve either wrecked or something’s gone wrong.  I think we’ve got that car figured out now though, and I think we’ll wind up having a good run.  We’ve gained momentum here towards the end of the year, we’ve finally figured some stuff out and we’ve been doing a little bit more studying for the different tires and I think we’ve got something for them.  After that it’s just one more race to round out that season before we head to the Snowball Derby in December.”
