Spencer Davis Battles Up Front in the Snowflake 100
Davis Has a Strong Weekend in Pensacola
On the weekend where Spencer Davis celebrated his 14th birthday, the young racer wanted nothing more than to celebrate with a strong run in both the Snowball Derby and the Snowflake 100 at Pensacola, Florida's Five Flags Speedway.

While the Snowball Derby start wasn't in the cards
due to Spencer getting tangled up in a Last-Chance
Race incident, the newly-turned 14-year-old shined
throughout most of the Allen Turner Hyundai
Snowflake 100 on Saturday, December 1.

Davis started eighth and cracked into the top-five
early.  He was amongst the leaders for much of
the race before the handling went away on Davis'
Parts City No. 29.  That dropped Davis in the running
order in the closing laps, but the young Georgia
racer kept his head high after finishing 16th.

"We had a real good run the first part of the race," said Davis.  "We were up front and pacing ourselves, saving our tires.  The second half, we just had it too locked down in the rear of the car and ended up losing our right-rear tire.  We stayed out of the wrecks and don’t have hardly any damage.  We came out in one piece and you can’t ask for much more in surviing the Snowflake race."

Davis learned many things to hopefully make a better result in 2013's running of the event, plus the Super Late Model Snowball Derby.

"We got caught up in the Last Chance Race with the Super and bent some minor stuff there that kept us from making the Snowball Derby.  Other than that, it was a pretty good weekend and we learned a lot that we can bring back next year."
