So. Alabama Speedway’s Viper Race Gives Davis a Challenge
Battling Veterans and Ill-Hanlding Teaches Davis in Opp
Coming off his first Pro Late Model win at Gresham Motorsports Park just last month in the JEGS 50, Spencer Davis took his CORE Racing team to South Alabama Speedway with hopes of putting his #29 machine back in victory lane.  Unfortunately that isn’t how the cards fell for Davis as mechanical issues slowed his night.

“We put new brakes on it,” said Davis.  “And I don’t know if it was the brakes or if we had some trash on the tires, but tonight was not the night we hoped for after having such a good run here last time.  We started off good and qualified really well.  We got a good start and were battling on the outside, then something just went bad and it started pushing.  Tonight was just one of those nights I guess.”

The night wasn’t a total loss for Davis though, he spent several laps racing with and learning from former Viper Series champion and eventual race winner, Bubba Pollard.

“Bubba is a really tough competitor and tough to race with,” said Davis.  “He got into the back of us, but that’s just racing.  He wanted to go and I was trying to fend him off.”

Now Davis will head back to the sight of his first win earlier this summer, Gresham Motorsports Park on August 11th for the Larry Fleeman Memorial 100 Pro Late Model event.

“We are going back to Gresham this weekend,” said Davis.  “We have always been fast there and hopefully we can pull off the Larry Fleeman Memorial 100 win.  It would be great to add another trophy to our collection.”
