Davis Turns Heads With 11th at All American 400
SLM Rookie Taking Nashville Momentum Into Busy Weekend
A 13-year-old Super Late Model rookie isn’t supposed to come into one of the most prestigious and toughest short track events in the country an succeed.  Success in events like Saturday’s All American 400 is supposed to go to veteran racers with far more experience than the young guns.

Well, Spencer Davis has been bucking trends like that for several years now, so it’s no surprise that the youngster from Georgia went to the prestigious All American 400 at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville (TN) on October 6th and did it again.  Davis started 29th and wheeled his Parts City No. 129 to an 11th place finish against some of the top talents in the country in the All American 400, an event that was called official at lap 220 due to rain showers.

“We fluctuated front to back depending on where we were with tires, but we were real good on the last run and got up to 11th.  Then the rain came.  My leg started falling asleep because we didn’t have the seat mounted right.  It was tough, but I wasn’t really worn out.  I kind of wish we could’ve kept on running, but we finished 11th and we have a full car.”

Having a car ready to continue on to more of the biggest races of the season, including the JEGS 50 Pro Late Model event on October 13th, where Davis is hoping to lock down a track championship at Gresham Motorsports Park (GA).  That event at GMP will be a part of a busy weekend for Davis and the Parts City team, as they will also be competing the night before in Pensacola, Florida in a Pro Late Model tune-up for the Snowflake 100 and Snowball Derby weekend in December.

“We’re going to go to Pensacola in Ronnie (Sanders) son’s (Ricky) car Friday night.  Then we’re going to go try to win the championship at Gresham.  That’d be really cool to get that big trophy and there’s some money.  We don’t want to take a chance with our car to cost us the championship at Gresham, but we still want to run that last Pensacola race and get more seat time before the Derby.”
