Tough Luck in Double-Header Weekend for Davis
11th and 16th for Spencer Davis at Five Flags and
South Alabama Speedways
When Spencer Davis headed south from his hometown of Dawsonville, Georgia for the Five Flags Speedway – South Alabama Speedway Pro Late Model double-header, he had high hopes of taking home two wins in mind.  Unfortunately a string of bad luck took him out of contention in both events.

In Friday night’s Allen Turner Hyundai Pro Late Model 100 at Five Flags Speedway, Davis took the green flag from the second position, but a mechanical issue they later discovered to be a broken right-rear shock mired him deep in the field in the 11th-position at the conclusion of the 100-lap event.

“We really don’t know what went wrong yet,” Davis said after the race.  “But hopefully we can get it worked out and get a better finish at Opp (South Alabama Speedway) tomorrow night.”

On Saturday night, at South Alabama Speedway, Davis rolled off sixth but ended up finishing 16th due to rear-end and fuel pump issues.

“We had a good run early,” said Davis.  “We got up there to fourth and just rode.  Something in the rear-end started going bad and then we think the fuel pump messed up.  The car started bogging down like it was starving for gas.  Weekends like this aren’t fun, but you have to have the bad to get the good.”

Next up for Davis will be another run, to hopefully turn his luck around, in his Super Late Model.  Davis and his No. 29 CORE Race Products Grand American Race Car (GARC) will take on this weekend’s Super Late Model 150 at Montgomery Motor Speedway on September 1st and 2nd.

“We dropped the car off at Augie’s (Grill, GARC) last weekend and are excited to run the Super again.  We have always been fast at Montgomery, and a win there would be awesome.  That place has a lot of history and it would mean a lot to get my first Super win there.”
